at the table tomorrow. they have a family member at war. >> when president lincoln set aside the national day of thanksgiving for the first time, to celebrate america's fruitful fields, and the strength and vigor of t american people, it was in the midst of the civil war. just when the future of our very union was most in doubt. when times were darkest, president lincoln understood that our american blessings shined brighter than ever. i want to wish a happy thanksgiving to every service member at home or in harm's way, that we're proud of you, and we are thinking of you and we're praying for you. >> and the president's prayers will be echoed at millions of thanksgiving tables tomorrow. so many american soldiers and marines will be thinking of home, and so many at home will be thinking of them. it's been a difficult year all around, and hopefully by next year, many more americans will be working and have even more blessings for which to be
